The Gin Joints perform with a variety of personnel and instruments, which allows the group to play venues as diverse as sit down dinner theaters to clubs, festivals and dances and over time the band has featured an ever-growing group of superb musicians based out of Seattle, New Orleans and New York City. Some of the musicians featured in the videos below are Park Evans and Jason Goessl (Guitar), Adrian Van Batenburg and Sam Esecson (drums), Kate Olson, Jacob Zimmerman, Steve Treseler (saxophone/clarinet), Ray Larson/Jim Sisko (trumpet), Jenny Littlefield on Ukulele and Vocals plus special guest vocalists Kate Voss (Sundae + Mr. Goessl) and Jimmie Herrod (Pink Martini).

Solo

One could say the band really started in 2015 when Birch stepped out of the shadow as a sideman and began to write arrangements for solo/bass and voice. The reception was so overwhelmingly positive Birch began to realize the potential of reviving this music and thus began reaching out to other musicians to play in a band that would be soon known as the Gin Joints. Birch performs solo shows singing and accompanying himself on bass and various types of ukuleles.
